Founders Day at Tamassee October 12-13, 2009 |
![]()
Founders Day began with a complimentary breakfast served in the Dining Hall. A beautiful table centerpiece at the breakfast was placed in honor of Missy Lipscomb. |
The State Regent’s project is to replace the old globes on the street lights at Tamassee (above, far left) with stars identical to the original street light covers. The only original street light (second picture) is beside the dining hall. The Pullman Center Thrift Shop on Highway 11 provides funds for Tamassee and bargains for shoppers. We saw everything from bridal gowns to dishes!
State Regent Altman also will continue the restoration of the South Carolina Cottage (left), including the downstairs parlor (middle) and office (right) with receiving area at the South Carolina Cottage. |

(Pictures, left to right) After passing through the entrance to Tamassee, visitors drive over an old bridge and catch a glimpse of the beautiful rapids. Chapel bells chime on the hour at Tamassee. The Founders Day Program was held in the auditorium. No one can leave Tamassee without spending a few quiet moments in the Margaret Lipscomb Garden.
